Iris Star is an independent film producer founded in 1998. Since its inception, its mission is two-pronged: To serve as an outlet for the work of young artists, and to produce quality films that would appeal to the general public. Without losing sight of either objective, from the very beginning we have put together a professional, well-equipped and passionate team that forms the very backbone of our company. Our philosophy is centred on teamwork and commitment to each project as if it were the first, in order to produce films that engage an international audience. We have the added advantage of being in Barcelona, which, thanks to its geographic and cultural situation, is already an imperative point of reference for European cinema. |

Shooting "Road Spain"
|
When we set out to make a film our priority is simply to tell a good story, which is why our catalogue covers such a spectrum of styles and film genres. Todo me pasa a mí is a comedy about the existential problems faced by a group of friends in their 30’s. La Biblia Negra is a psychological horror film. Fumata Blanca is a thriller with a religious backdrop. Cámara Oscura is suspense in the open ocean. Raval Raval...is a film in documentary style that tells the story of several inhabitants of this Barcelona district. Lazos Rotos is a police thriller that takes place in Barcelona and Paris. Road Spain takes us on a road trip to discover remote Spanish landscapes. And ¡Soy un Pelele!, our latest title, is a romantic comedy not suitable for all publics. We also adjust our production capabilities to each project’s requirements, producing feature length films independently and also teaming up with other national and international producers. In the last year Iris Star has diversified its business as well, with the creation of two new companies: Stardis Pictures, a national distributor of films, videos and TV programming, and Coach14, an agency based in Paris that sells rights for use of audiovisual materials.

Our experience so far has felt like a sprint. We have accelerated steadily, with high production levels which make us one of the most active emerging producers in Spain, and in turn serves as a boost to the audiovisual industry. And this explains why we’re always working on new projects.
As Orson Welles put it: “Cinema knows no limits; it is a ribbon of dreams.”
